In order to get better at anything, it is important to keep practicing. I think that is especially true in photography. Somebody said that you will be better at photography after you take about 10,000 photos. And maybe then you will start to see things better. It is a take off on the theory that it takes 10,000 hours to learn anything.

So, I try to take photos everyday. Sometimes I don’t find things that really are inspiring to take a shot of so I just make my own thing to shoot. So today I took a shot of some berries in a dish. Actually I liked how it turned out and to pat myself on the back, I thought I did a good job and it is worth sharing.

Car Show in Media, PA

I visited Media, PA over the weekend. They were having a car show on their main street. It’s a nice small town, lots of cool restaurants, even a Trader Joe’s. Their car show was better than the usual run of the mill I see over the summer months. Sometimes the shows seem repetitive with the same cars going from one show to the next so there isn’t the variety that is nice to see. This one however presented a good selection of cars….all American classics but still a nice selection.

New Hope Couture

I like to walk around a city or town and take photos that I find interesting or different. Looking for a decisive moment as Henri Cartier Brisson the famous street photographer used to say. But lots of times I dont find anything worth photographing.

On Saturday, I saw a woman at Starbucks, she had purple hair….not a big deal anymore, she had tattoos, doesn’t everyone have tattoos now adays, but she was wearing a “rat” dress. How many times has anyone seen a rat dress? The combination was special so I took the photo of someone special and clearly unique. Something you dont see every day. That is what I look for.

Sunday in NYC

I try to get into the city on most weekends usually visiting a couple of the parks and taking photos of what is interesting. This past weekend it was slightly rainy but not bad enough to prevent people from being out and about. I didn't find any subjects in which I was really excited about photographing....sometimes I feel like I get a real "keeper" but nothing stood out to me. However I had a squirrel who was overly friendly so I got a nice close up of the little guy.

New Hope Auto Show on Sunday

I visited the New Hope Auto Show. It is better than most since it has a larger variety of cars than perhaps others that take place all summer long. I got to see one of my favorite classic cars, an old Porsche, always liked that body style. It was warm out but a good day without the rain interrupting the event.

Elmwood Park Zoo Visit

We went to the zoo in Norristown, PA. Its small but really quite nice. Lots of well-kept animals and perfect for kids to visit. Fed the giraffes and the bisons who both eat the same thing..romaine lettuce which I thought was kind of weird but hey, what do I know. Anyway, here is a nice photo of one of their jaguars.

Its about time

So I haven't written on this blog for awhile and I need to commit to doing it more often but time gets away and then I don't think about it and before you know it months go by.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun last weekend taking photos of a great bike ride in Hunterdon County for the Rapha Racing Ltd company. A bunch of riders doing 70 miles. Took a lot of photos and it was a very nice day.
